David R. Smith has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. David R. started their career in 1995 as the CEO of The Auto and Marine Place, Inc., where they managed day-to-day operations and handled various responsibilities such as marketing, payroll, tax preparation, customer relations, and quality control. In 2009, they joined St. Paul Catholic School as a Microsoft Network Administrator, where they designed, built, configured, and maintained a Windows Server 2003 domain, managed Active Directory, Print Server, Share Point Server, VPN Access, and MS Exchange, and provided maintenance and support for servers and workstations. During the same period, they also worked at CenturyLink as a Data Support Specialist, where they supervised the Kansas Business Technical Support Overnight Team and provided customer-facing support, including NGS and DMS LD Switch provisioning, call routing, call trace, quality testing for POTS and VOIP services, and training to Agents and Tier 2 Leads supporting business class customers. In 2017, they joined NetStandard, Inc. as a NOC Team Lead - Systems Engineer, responsible for day-to-day operations in a Level 3 Data Center and providing remote support for client networks. Their roles included monitoring and maintaining data center environmental conditions and alarms, implementing recovery measures, managing access/security, and handling user account management for various software and systems such as MS Server, Citrix, RDS, VPN, Firewall, and client-specific software.

David R. Smith has a diverse education history. David R. first attended Shawnee Mission Northwest High School from 1982 to 1985, where they completed their high school education. Following that, from 1986 to 1987, they enrolled at ITT Technical Institute and obtained a certification in Automobile/Automotive Mechanics Technology/Technician. Continuing their education, David attended Longview Community College from 1988 to 1990, where they earned a Certificate in the same field of study.

In addition to their academic qualifications, David has obtained several certifications in the field of network security. In February 2019, they earned the certifications of NSE 1 Network Security Associate, NSE 2 Network Security Associate, and NSE 3 Security Associate from Fortinet. The following year, in January 2020, they achieved the certification of NSE 4 Network Security Professional from the same institution.
