Chad Shafer

Chad Shafer has over 20 years’ experience in corporate and commercial real estate credit. Until joining our team, Chad had spent his entire career at JPMorgan Chase & Co., beginning in 1998. He most recently served at its Corporate and Investment Bank as the Executive Director – Wholesale Credit Risk, leading the credit due diligence for corporate real estate clients. As Executive Director – Head of Real Estate Banking Portfolio Management from November 2017 to November 2019, he built a team from the ground up to support the construction real estate portfolio.

Prior to that post, Chad had numerous roles in JPMorgan’s Commercial Term Lending division, culminating as Executive Director – Head of Key Relationship Group – Credit Risk, where he led a national team of 40+ credit risk professionals that managed credit portfolios for private real estate investors. He also worked in credit risk and origination at JPMorgan’s Chicago CMBS group, in REIT and commercial real estate underwriting, and completed a formal credit training program.
