Michael Murphy

Michael Murphy serves as Finance Director at Network Rail, overseeing financial leadership for safety, technology, and engineering activities since February 2000. With extensive experience in financial control and management, Michael has successfully sponsored a business intelligence program, managed significant project delivery with an annual turnover of £5bn, and led multiple financial strategies across various divisions, including commercial property and railway operations. Prior to Network Rail, Michael held key financial roles at BAE Systems, contributing to major aircraft programs and developing financial management techniques. Michael is a qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and holds a degree in History from the University of Portsmouth.
