Ben Connon

Ben Connon has extensive work experience in the engineering field. Ben is currently working as an Engineering Lead at Neuron since March 2022. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Design Manager at Lucid Consulting Australia from October 2019 to February 2022.

Before joining Lucid Consulting Australia, Ben worked at AECOM where they held the positions of Team Leader - Mechanical Services in Auckland from December 2018 to September 2019 and Senior Mechanical Engineer from August 2017 to December 2018.

Ben's earlier experience includes working as a Mechanical Engineer at Wood & Grieve Engineers from April 2013 to May 2017, where they primarily focused on HVAC Building Services Engineering in the healthcare sector. Ben also designed wet fire and hydraulics for a period of 2.5 years.

In addition to their engineering roles, Ben has experience as a Director and Founder of Akwaaba Africa, a subsidiary office of STAESA, a South African nonprofit organization. Ben was responsible for various tasks such as marketing, advertising, web design, accommodation coordination, and program organization from March 2011 to November 2013.

Earlier in their career, Ben worked as an Engineer at UNO Management Services for 6 months in Darwin, NT, Australia. Their responsibilities included cost estimation, project management, HSE documentation, tender preparation, drafting, and concept & preliminary design.

Ben's academic background includes a PhD in Aerospace Sciences Research from the University of Glasgow. Their research focused on the use of engineering models for predicting pilot-induced oscillation in helicopters. Ben worked in this role for 8 months before transitioning to a career in industry.

Ben Connon completed their Master of Science (MSc) degree in Structural & Foundation Engineering from Heriot-Watt University from 2014 to 2016. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (B.Eng. Hons.) in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the University of Glasgow, which they pursued from 2006 to 2011.

In addition to their formal education, Ben Connon has acquired various certifications. These include the National Engineering Register from Engineers Australia, obtained in September 2020. These certifications were obtained between June 2015 and October 2016.
