New Rising Sun (NRS) is a seasoned team of concert promoters and visual arts producers who secured 100% of the rights to produce Bumbershoot through Seattle Center. Seattle Center is the steward of Bumbershoot’s licensing rights in perpetuity and home of the festival event for 50 years. NRS’s for-profit mission will supercharge and expand the Bumbershoot brand into all new programming verticals on and off the Seattle Center campus throughout the year.

Third Stone and New Rising Sun are re-launching the Pacific Northwest’s iconic arts and music festival as an opportunity to highlight our regional arts and culture communities and expand the definition of “Artist.” We honor the essential characteristics of the festival’s rich legacy with a vision to realign Bumbershoot with Seattle’s changing growth purpose and needs.
A dual organization model allows the best of both worlds for Bumbershoot’s next 50 years, with a non-profit entity - Third Stone - to engage the community, and a WA Social Purpose Corporation - New Rising Sun - to produce the next generation of Bumbershoot, starting in 2023 with the 50th Anniversary.
Third Stone is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit arts and education organization founded in Seattle in 2022. We are Bumbershoot's non-profit entity, with a mission to foster an inclusive, energized, and sustainable arts economy in the Pacific Northwest through youth education, festival, spectacle, and community driven programming. We are the heart of Bumbershoot, housing the education programand the main festival event. Third Stone is supported by major and grassroots giving that delivers on our promise to make the festival affordable again and makes education and production costs possible.
