New Start Community Garden is a nonprofit school, community, and botanical garden in Burien, Wa. We teach organic gardening, cooking, and environmental stewardship with classes and events for local students and community. Our school garden uses students and volunteers to grow organic and culturally appropriate produce for the White Center Food Bank and our p-patch program provides access to land for local community members to grow food for their families. We work with at-risk youth within the Highline School District and host programs and classes by other area nonprofits in the topics of food, science, and environment. We also host community events each summer. We are almost entirely volunteer run.
