John O'Brien has a long and successful career in business development, strategy, and brand management. John began their career in 1998 as the Principal and Director of Development at Steam Advertising & Design, where they co-founded and grew the firm into a nationally recognized business with $3.8 million in capitalized billings over six years. John then moved to Soul Communications in 2004, where they co-founded the firm and grew billings by 230-340% year over year for three years. In 2007, they took on two roles as Director of Business Development, first at Octane Design and then at iwerk, where they grew revenues by 240% over a three-year period. From 2012 to 2015, they worked as the Director of Client Services and then Vice President of Strategic Growth at Applied Storytelling, where they led the digital strategy for the firm's website and managed existing clients in the Detroit market. In 2018, they joined Pillar Technology as the Growth lead, where they facilitated strategic growth pursuits and established new client relationships. Finally, in 2019, they became an Executive Consultant at Accenture, where they advised companies on how to navigate advanced technologies to drive digital transformation. In 2020, they moved to Applied Storytelling as the Managing Director, and in 2021 they became the VP of Platform at NewFoundry.
