Bob Johnson

Bob Johnson is the current Chief Operating Officer at NewRez. Bob has over seventeen years of experience in the mortgage industry, including eight years as Executive Vice President of Capital Markets at American Home Mortgage. In this role, they were responsible for the management of the Capital Markets Division, which included departments such as Secondary Marketing, Post Closing, and Transaction Management. Under their leadership, the Division grew to comprise over 420 employees.

During their time at American Home Mortgage, Bob was instrumental in key accomplishments such as the migration to QRM’s Mortgage Banking Interest Rate Risk System, the implementation of proprietary inventory management/best execution software, and the evolution to using securitization as an execution strategy for loan disposal. Bob was also involved in corporate strategy and decision making with the CEO, CAO, CIO, CFO, Treasurer and other members of Executive Management.

In August 2007, amidst a serious housing downturn and rising defaults in mortgages, American Home filed for bankruptcy protection. Bob was retained to lead the Company in selling the remaining Loan Assets. Bob worked closely with the Company’s restructuring advisors, Counsel to the Company, Advisors to the Creditor’s Committee, Counsel for the Creditor’s Committee, various Creditors and their Counsel and other third parties. Bob testified on the sale of various assets and defended the Company’s ownership of certain assets and its right to sell those assets. Full time employment with the Company ceased in June 2008 as part of the wind down of the Company.

Bob Johnson has a BA in Economics and Communications from the University of Richmond.
