Janina Grayson

Janina Grayson has a diverse work experience that spans across multiple industries and roles. Janina is currently working at Newsela as a Principal Engineer, a position they have held since January 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Newsela as the Lead Software Engineer, Web from September 2020 to January 2023, and as a Senior Software Engineer, Web from November 2019 to September 2020.

Before joining Newsela, Janina worked at TD Ameritrade as a Developer II from January 2019 to November 2019 and as a Developer I from June 2017 to December 2018.

Janina also has experience in research, having worked as an REU Fellow at the National Science Foundation Research for Undergraduate Experience (REU) in 2015. Here, they conducted research on user authentication using a haptic device, focusing on developing an authentication protocol based on different types of touching events.

In addition, Janina has prior experience as a Supplemental Instructor at New York Institute of Technology in 2014, an IT Intern at Healthfirst in 2014, a Peer Tutor at New York Institute of Technology from 2013 to 2014, an Administrative Assistant - Communications Dept at the Hospital for Special Surgery from 2011 to 2012, an Intern - Advertising and Promotions Dept at Penguin Group USA in 2011, and an Office Assistant - BOLD program at Cornell University in 2010.

Janina Grayson has a Master's Degree in Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology, which they obtained from 2016 to 2017. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science at New York Institute of Technology from 2013 to 2015. Janina also holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Human Development and Family Studies, General from Cornell University, where they studied from 2006 to 2010. Janina's education journey began with their High School Diploma from Preston High School, which they received in 2006.
