Matthew Chung

Matthew Chung, PhD, is a Senior Bioinformatician at Sonrai since October 2023, focusing on AI and innovative bioinformatics methods for drug development and precision medicine. Matthew also serves as a Venture Associate at Next Sequence® and has pursued an academic career as a PhD candidate in Immunology and Bioinformatics at King's College London, receiving £200k funding from the Wellcome Trust. The doctoral research explores tissue-resident macrophages and their roles in various diseases using advanced techniques such as iPSC immune cells and CRISPR. Previous roles include Machine Learning Engineer at Bluezone Insurance, Data Scientist at UCL, and Structural & Molecular Biology Scientist at the University of Hong Kong. Matthew's educational background includes multiple advanced degrees, culminating in a PhD in Cell Therapy and Regenerative Medicine, along with additional studies in Entrepreneurship from London Business School. Various leadership roles include mentoring master’s students and coordinating the Stem Cells @ Lunch Podcast.
