Simon Cooper

Simon is the Chief Operating Officer at NEXTDC, and is responsible for leading the company’s strategic direction in data centre design, development, construction, and driving the strategic business operational framework.

Before migrating to Australia with his family to join NEXTDC and help execute our strategic vision of becoming the most recognised, connected, and trusted data centre brand in Asia Pacific, Simon was based in Singapore where he directed Tata Communications investments in their international sub-sea network expansion and led the customer engineering and commercial solutions worldwide for Tata's wholesale portfolio.

Simon began his career as a Telecommunications Systems Engineer, working directly on a number of submarine cable projects with Cable & Wireless, before moving on to Level 3 Communications where he was responsible for driving their transmission network roll-out across the Atlantic and across Europe.

By leveraging his engineering expertise and experience, Simon expanded his influence to the operational side of the business. Simon ran Level 3’s service activation business across Europe before taking on their pan-European transport business P&L, all prior to his move to Singapore.

Simon holds an Electronic and Electrical Engineering Degree from Nottingham University. Simon’s professional abilities range from strategic relationship management and funding the development and delivery of large infrastructure projects, through to his extensive high-level technical and commercial knowledge and understanding of large scale critical infrastructure projects, and building operational organisations to support them.
