The future of technical carbon removals... today!

The NextGen CDR Facility (NextGen) aims to facilitate the purchase of certified technical carbon removals, deliver permanent carbon storage and act as a catalyst for net-zero strategies.

NextGen brings technical expertise and global networks together to unlock the potential of large scale technical carbon dioxide removal (CDR).

NextGen is powered by South Pole and Mitsubishi Corporation, with backing from founding buyers Boston Consulting Group, LGT, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Swiss Re, Mizuho, and UBS.

Our purpose

Establish the market: NextGen will help build a market for high-quality certified technical CDRs, in a world where removing CO₂ from the atmosphere is necessary to reach net zero emissions by 2050.

Scale innovative technologies: By bringing together leading companies to purchase verified negative emissions, generated by innovative technologies that remove and store CO₂ for hundreds of years from the atmosphere, NextGen will provide companies at the cutting edge of carbon removals with the financing needed to scale.

Ensure CDR credibility: NextGen's commitment to technical CDRs that can be certified under ICROA standards will ensure both the credibility of the market, as well as tangible environmental benefits.

Global engagement: NextGen is the first truly global facility of its kind, bringing together buyers from across Asia, Europe, and the USA to promote international support for technical CDRs.
