James Qiu

Director, Systems Engineering at Nextivity

James Qiu has a extensive work experience in the field of systems engineering. James began their career at Qualcomm in 1998, where they worked on WCDMA/UMTS PHY/MAC layer algorithms and CDMA1X ASIC systems design and verification. In 2007, they joined Beceem Communications as a Sr. Staff Engineer. In 2008, they moved to MaxLinear, where they served as a Principle Design Engineer/Project Lead in Communications Systems Engineering. James'sresponsibilities at MaxLinear included designing OFDM and QAM receivers/demodulators, as well as digital front end and mixed-signal interface design. Since 2012, James has been working at Nextivity Inc. as the Director of Systems Engineering. In their current role, they are responsible for delivering the company's next generation of products and manages a team of engineers. James'sspecific projects at Nextivity include 5G NR downlink demodulator design.

James Qiu completed their education with a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 1998. Prior to that, they pursued a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Engineering from the same university, starting in 1992 and finishing in 1997. James began their educational journey at Vanier College in 1990, where they obtained a CEGEP diploma, specializing in Pure and Applied Science and Science Plus.
