James Black serves as the Senior Vice President and General Counsel at NextNav, a leader in next-generation positioning, navigation, and timing technology. Previously, James held the same title at Terran Orbital Corporation, managing legal and compliance functions for a manufacturer of small satellites. James's extensive legal experience includes roles at Ultra Electronics, Osiris Therapeutics, Northrop Grumman, Orbital ATK, and Orbital Sciences Corporation, covering various aspects such as corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance. Early in the career, James worked as an associate at Hills, Stern & Morley LLP and Hogan & Hartson, and served as a law clerk for the Honorable Jerome Friedman in the U.S. District Court. James earned a JD from William & Mary Law School, an MA in Anthropology from The George Washington University, and a BS in Anthropology from James Madison University.
