John Pretz

John Pretz is an experienced data science engineer with a strong background in physics and astrophysics. Currently serving as a Staff Data Science Engineer at NextRoll since May 2018, John develops models for real-time advertisement bidding, optimizing bid prices in under 100 milliseconds. Prior to this role, John held positions including Senior Data Science Engineer and Research Associate at the Pennsylvania State University System, where contributions were made to the HAWC experiment, and Scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory, involved in analyzing gamma-ray data from the Milagro observatory. John's academic credentials include a Ph.D. and a Master’s degree in Physics from the University of Maryland, complemented by a Bachelor’s degree from Grinnell College.
