Senior Robotic Software Engineer at Neya Systems

John Porter has been working in the robotics engineering industry since 2006. John began their career as an Intern at Referentia Systems, Inc., where they completed data farming for Project Albert at the Marine Corp Warfighting Center. John then moved to the Office of Naval Research in 2007 as an Intern, where they created a new reprogramming system prototype for the HARM missile. In 2008, they became a Research Assistant at the National Institute for Advanced Transportation Technology and a Robotic Lunar Exploration Program (RLEP) Fellow at the Idaho Space Grant Consortium. From 2011 to 2015, John worked as an Electrical Engineer at Lockheed Martin, where they conducted hardware-in-the-loop testing for robotic platforms, provided production support, troubleshooting and failure analysis of electronics assemblies, and conducted circuit redesign and PCB layout. Afterwards, they worked as a Robotics Engineer at Caterpillar Inc. and NextDroid Systems. John is currently employed as a Senior Robotic Software Engineer at Neya Systems LLC.

John Porter obtained a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Idaho in 2008 and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Idaho in 2008. John then went on to obtain a Master's degree in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University in 2013. In 2021, they obtained a certification in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from LinkedIn.
