Tyler then pursued further education at Boston University, where they acquired a Master of Science degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering, as well as a Doctor of Philosophy degree in the same field. Tyler completed both their Master's and Ph.D degrees at Boston University from 2012 to 2017.
