Lawrence S Brown, Jr. has extensive experience in the fields of healthcare, addiction treatment, and public health policy. Currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Center for Community Alternatives, as well as being a member of the Policy Committee for the Statewide Health Information Network of New York, and the New York State Opioid Settlement Fund Advisory Board, Brown's work focuses on addressing the impacts of mass incarceration and substance use disorders. As a Clinical Associate Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College and a member of NIDA's National Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network, Brown is actively engaged in research and education. Additionally, Brown has held various leadership roles including Chief Executive Officer at START Treatment and Recovery Centers and has served on the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee. Brown's educational background includes multiple degrees from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree from Brooklyn College.
