Laurel Barrette has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Laurel began their career in 2004 as a Middle School Social Studies Teacher at Avondale Elementary School District. In 2007, they transitioned to the role of a High School Counselor/Teacher at Arizona Virtual Academy/K12, where they provided counseling services and implemented various programs to support student success. After a year, Laurel joined K12 in 2008 as the Director of School Counseling Programs, where they developed and led the first national comprehensive virtual school counseling program. Laurel later moved on to become the Director of Program Management, focusing on innovating student and family prevention and intervention programs. In their most recent position at NFS Technology, Laurel has held various roles, including Implementation Consultant, Technical Communication & Design, and currently serves as a Marketing Coordinator.

Laurel Barrette has a diverse education history. Laurel completed their Master's degree in Social Science Education at the University of California, Davis - School of Education in 2005. In 2007, they pursued Advanced Graduate Studies in School Counseling at Ottawa University. Laurel also obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Social Science and Economics from California State University-Sacramento in 2003. Additionally, they attended Harvard University's Summer Institute in 2009, where they focused on College Admissions Counseling.

In terms of additional certifications, Laurel obtained Technical Writing: Quick Start Guides, Universal Principles of Design, and Writing in Plain English certifications from LinkedIn in April 2020.

Currently, Laurel is enrolled at the California Institute of the Arts and is pursuing a Specialization Certificate in Graphic Design, which started in 2020.
