John Hansen

John Hansen is a six-generation homestead farmer with a background in soil conservation, water quality, elected public official work, renewable energy development, farm policy, campaign management, Nebraska Legislature lobbying, insurance, livestock, agricultural market concentration and anti-trust issues, climate change, political coalition building, nonprofit organization management, budgeting, and recycling. They currently serve on the National Farmers Union Board of Directors and as President and Executive Director of Nebraska Farmers Union. They are the Chair of the Nebraska Wind and Solar Conference and hold roles on NFU committees including Vice Chair of the Legislative Committee and as a member of the Budget & Audit Committee, NFU Services Association, NFU PAC, and NFU Foundation. They previously served on the Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District Board of Directors from 1974 to 1986 and 1988 to 1990. They studied English at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 1969 to 1972.
