Jan Van Besien

Jan Van Besien has worked in the software engineering industry since 2004. From 2004-2006, they worked as a Java software developer and technical team leader at SmalS-MvM. From 2006-2011, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Newtec, where they designed and developed software for satellite communication ground stations. From 2011-2012, they worked as a Software Architect at 3E, where they were involved in feature development and steering the project and its architecture. Lastly, from 2012-present, they have been a Senior Software Engineer at NGDATA, where they have been building Lily, NGDATA's intelligent engagement platform, written in Java using a Lambda architecture built with HBase, Hadoop, MapReduce (Apache Crunch), Apache Phoenix, Apache Kafka, and Kubernetes.

Jan Van Besien attended Ghent University from 2000 to 2004, where they earned a licentiaat in computer science ("licentiaat informatica").
