Dr. Nathan Smith serves as the Gretchen Augustyn Director and Curator of the Dinosaur Institute at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, where they oversee staff and conduct paleontological research. Currently an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Southern California, Nathan previously held positions as an Assistant Professor at Howard University and a postdoctoral research scientist at the Field Museum. With a B.A. in Biology from Augustana College, a M.S. in Geoscience from the University of Iowa, and a Ph.D. in Evolutionary Biology from the University of Chicago, Nathan’s research has focused on the evolution and biogeography of dinosaurs and other prehistoric organisms, with significant fieldwork across various global locations.
