Jonathan MacDonald

Jonathan Macdonald is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde since August 2012, leading departmental Research and Innovation in gastroenterology at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Macdonald's expertise includes serving as Principal Investigator and Chief Investigator for various clinical trials related to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), such as the BIOPIC, MARVEL, and IMSAT studies. Additional roles include locum consultancy at Glasgow Clinical Research Facility, and Clinical Trial Specialist at the University of Glasgow's College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences, where Macdonald also holds the position of Honorary Clinical Associate Professor, supervising MD and PhD students in IBD and GI research. Macdonald has contributed as gastroenterology clinical lead for Biologics and Biosimilars at NHS National Services Scotland and has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry through sales and training roles. Macdonald holds a BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology from the University of Glasgow and a BM (Hons) from the University of Southampton.
