Sam McCann

Public Health Registrar

Sam McCann is a Public Health Registrar at NHS since August 2024, previously serving as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at King's College London from January 2021 to July 2024. McCann's experience includes a role as a Higher Scientific Officer at the Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia from September 2016 to January 2019, leading the BRIGHT Project focused on brain-function-for-age curves in infants. A Wellcome Trust Summer Studentship in July 2014 provided an opportunity for a six-week lab placement in the Mitochondrial Research Group, exploring autophagy and mitochondrial function in relation to Parkinson’s disease. McCann holds a PhD in Global Health from King's College London, a Master’s in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and a Bachelor’s in Medical Neuroscience from the University of Sussex.
