Charles Gray serves as the Lead Game Designer at Niantic, Inc. since June 2024, spearheading design initiatives for Pokémon Go with a focus on player engagement and game mechanics. Previously, at Zwift from April 2022 to February 2024, Charles revitalized player engagement through the reconstruction of core game loops and the development of monetization strategies. At Kongregate, from November 2020 to March 2022, Charles oversaw the player experience vision, proposed new game concepts, and facilitated cross-team collaboration. As a freelance Consultant and Principal Game Designer from June 2019 to November 2020, Charles assisted developers in crafting immersive gaming experiences and enhancing engagement systems. Earlier experience includes serving as Creative Director at Ander from August 2018 to April 2019, where Charles managed partnerships and designed data architecture. Educational qualifications include a Master of Entertainment Technology and a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing, both from Carnegie Mellon University.
