Michael Altgen

Research Scientist at NIBIO

Michael Altgen has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of research and academia. Michael most recently worked as a Research Scientist at the NIBIO Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research starting in 2023. Prior to that, they were a Research Fellow at Aalto University from 2022 to 2023. Michael also served as a Deputy Professor at the University of Hamburg from 2020 to 2022. Before that, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher at Aalto University from 2017 to 2020. Michael began their research career as a Doctoral Student at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen from 2011 to 2016. Michael also gained experience as a Student Research Assistant at the same university from 2008 to 2010.

Michael Altgen obtained their Bachelor's degree in Forest Sciences and Forest Ecology from The University of Göttingen in 2008. Michael then pursued a Master's degree in Wood Biology and Wood Technology from the same university, graduating in 2011. Continuing their education, Michael completed a Doctor's degree in Wood Biology and Wood Technology at The University of Göttingen in 2016.
