Simon Weldon

Simon Weldon has a diverse work experience background. Simon started their career as a Support Worker at Aspire Community Enterprise, where they focused on providing jobs to homeless and ex-homeless individuals. Simon then worked as a Project Support Officer at the Audit Commission, coordinating the delivery of various projects for local government. Simon also gained experience as an Assistant Stockman at the Grazing Animals Project, where they focused on conservation habitat management through controlled grazing.

Moving forward, Simon held the position of Assistant Consultant at Landskape and Woodland, where they offered technical advice to landowners on land management. Simon then worked as an Ecological Consultant at ADAS, providing technical advice to farmers, landowners, developers, and utility companies. Simon also conducted research and provided written input for a case study funded by DEFRA.

Simon's career then led him to the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, where they worked as an Ingeniør - Research Technician, focusing on livestock management. Lastly, Simon joined the NIBIO Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research as a Researcher, studying the carbon balance in Northern Peatlands and conducting soil assessments for large-scale development projects.

Simon Weldon's education history begins with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology/Animal Biology from the University of Bristol, which they obtained from 1996 to 2001. Simon then pursued a Master of Research degree in the Science of the Environment, with a specialization in Habitat Management and Ecology, at Lancaster University from 2004 to 2005. Simon's educational achievements culminated in him pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Biogeochemistry at the NMBU - Norwegian University of Life Sciences, during which they are expected to complete their studies in 2022.
