Dan Walker's work experience begins in 1999 when they worked as the UNIX Team Lead at W. W. Grainger, leading a team in redesigning and implementing a transactional website. From 2001 to 2003, they served as the Manager of Internet Services at AMD, managing a team that provided internet enabled services to the company. Dan then worked as the Technical Consulting Manager at Bearing Point, overseeing a team of IT professionals managing and supporting the Texas.gov site. From 2005 to 2009, they held the position of Senior Systems Administrator at Sprint. After that, they worked as a Senior System Administrator at Northrop Grumman Corporation from 2009 to 2013. Following this, they became the Security Engineering Team Lead at CGI from 2013 to 2015. In 2015, they worked as a Security Engineer at TekSystems on a contract basis. Dan then joined NIC Inc. in 2016 as a Security Engineer and later moved to RetailMeNot, Inc. in 2018, where they also held the position of Security Engineer. Since 2018, they have also been working as a Rancher at K Bar D Ranch.

Dan Walker completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Economics from Eastern Illinois University, where they studied from 1984 to 1986. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Agricultural and Consumer Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with a duration from 1986 to 1987.
