NICC/INCC
Bart Nys has extensive experience in research coordination and forensic science, currently serving as a Research Coordinator at NICC/INCC since 1994. Nys is responsible for coordinating research projects, establishing partnerships with external research entities, and developing project proposals for various European funding programs including FP7, ISEC, and Horizon2020. Additionally, Nys has been active as a Forensic Expert - Researcher with the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes since August 2015, and holds the position of Chairman of the R&D Standing Committee at the Nationaal Instituut voor Criminologie en Criminalistiek since January 1994. Nys conducts forensic analyses, particularly in the Gunshot Residue (GSR) domain, and collaborates on R&D projects with international forensic partners. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Antwerp, obtained between 1984 and 1992.
NICC/INCC
The National Institute of Forensic Sciences and Criminology is a federal scientific institution of the Belgian State under the direct authority of the Minister of Justice. The NICC/INCC, among other things, aims to serve the judicial process by making its scientific research and expertise available as a service in order to: • detect offenders and support the collection and building of proof • improve knowledge of criminal phenomena and the possible approach towards them.
