Niconovum was formed in 2000 by Dr. Karl Olof Fagerström, one of the world’s leading experts on smoking cessation and nicotine dependence.
Niconovum believes there is a need for a range of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) products that deliver nicotine efficiently and pleasantly
– giving consumers better options to choose from in order to meet their personal tobacco reduction goals.

In 2009, Niconovum was acquired by Reynolds American Inc. (RAI) and in 2017, RAI was acquired by British American Tobacco (BAT). BAT has a stated ambition to lead the transformation of the tobacco industry by offering adult consumers a range of potentially reduced-risk products.
