James Helm

James Helm is an accomplished Infant Family Specialist at WakeMed, where they provided developmentally supportive care in the NICU for over 25 years. They have also served as the Director of the Carolina NIDCAP Training Center since 1989 and have been a senior NIDCAP trainer. In addition to being the Vice President for Administration on the Board of Directors for NIDCAP Federation International, James leads various committees and supports the organization’s president. They hold a PhD in Early Childhood Special Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and are pursuing a BS in Psychology from The College of William and Mary and an MA in Early Childhood Education from The George Washington University.
