Nighttype Books is an independent children’s publisher created to make bedtime a more connected ritual and to bring the importance of early childhood reading back into the evening routine.

We create thoughtfully crafted picture books designed for shared reading at the end of the day. Our stories are intentionally paced, visually inviting, and written to be easy to follow in softer evening light. Each book features carefully selected typography, including Lexend, a research-backed font chosen for its readability, open letterforms, and visual comfort for early readers. Page length, layout, and text size are all intentionally designed to feel clear, inviting, and manageable for families reading together as the day winds down.

Our mission is to help families reclaim the hour before sleep from phones, tablets, and television, replacing screen time with storytelling, imagination, and meaningful connection. Through immersive narration and emotionally honest themes, our books support early literacy while helping children feel settled, comforted, and ready for rest.

Founded by American author and publisher Kiersta Halseth in Germany’s Black Forest, Nighttype Books is the home of the Lolli Stromboli & The Adventures of Mouse House series, which now includes Lolli Stromboli and the Mysterious Hole and Lolli Stromboli and the Cuckoo Clock Quest, with more titles to come.

A better bedtime, one page at a time.
