Arvind Thakur

Arvind Thakur is a board member at NIIT University and was previously the Vice Chairman & Managing Director at NIIT Technologies Limited from April 2004 to May 2019. Arvind was responsible for overseeing the business, governance, policy and plans, and managed key relationships across all stakeholders, long term strategy and strategic initiatives. Some of their key accomplishments include implementing a succession plan by transitioning complete operations to a new CEO, setting the company on a renewed growth trajectory and exceeding USD 1 billion in market capitalization, divesting non core businesses and acquiring new digital businesses, and identifying a strategic investor to take the company to its next level of growth.

Prior to their role at NIIT Technologies Limited, Thakur was the President of Software Business at NIIT Limited from June 1985 to March 2004. At NIIT Ltd, they were responsible for growing the company’s IT Services business. Some of their achievements include evolving the organization from a dominant training business into a software powerhouse, converting the art form of programing into an engineering discipline, pioneering offshore execution, driving quality culture embracing highest levels of execution maturity conforming to global standards, and reinventing the business post the dot com meltdown to ultimately spin off the software business into an independent listed entity.

Arvind Thakur's educational career includes a post-graduate diploma in industrial engineering from the National Institute of Industrial Engineering, a bachelor of technology with honors in mining engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology at Kharagpur, and an Indian School Certificate from Mayo College.
