Dr. Michael Joachim Andreassen, PhD, MSc, IWE, is a Discipline Manager for Bridges and Special Structures at NIRAS, with a focus on structural design and technical development. They hold a PhD in Distortional Mechanics of Thin-Walled Structural Elements and an MSc in Structural Engineering. Michael has a comprehensive background in steel structures, welding, and fatigue research, having supervised over 100 research projects and taught more than 3000 students. They have served as an Associate Professor and Laboratory Manager at DTU, held international research positions, and are actively involved in several professional organizations and commissions related to welding and structural performance.
