Brian Kortum, MBA, currently serves as the Director of Environmental Permitting at NiSource, where responsibilities include managing strategic direction for natural resource, air, water, and landfill environmental permitting and construction compliance for the natural gas and electric business segments. Previously, Brian held positions as Manager of Natural Resources Permitting, driving compliance for a $1.5 billion capital program, and as Manager/Leader of Survey and Land, overseeing the expansion of a team and implementing vegetation management programs. Brian's experience includes managing natural resources permitting across multiple states and authoring a Habitat Conservation Plan for the Endangered Karner Blue Butterfly. Brian holds an MBA in Management from Indiana Wesleyan University and a BS in Forestry from Southern Illinois University, and served as a Communications Specialist in the Illinois Army National Guard and as a Petroleum Supply Specialist in the United States Army Reserve.
