Steve Barker

Steve Barker is a Manager in Environmental Permitting and Biodiversity at NiSource, a position held since 2023. Previously, they served as Principal of Natural Resource Permitting at Northern Indiana Public Service Company from 2014 to 2023 and played a critical role as Environmental Liaison at Coffee Creek Watershed Conservancy from 1999 to 2013. Steve has also managed various restoration and environmental planning projects as a Senior Project Scientist at Cardno JFNew from 1999 to 2014. They have been actively involved in multiple organizations, including serving as a Trustee at Great Lakes Park Training Institute and as a board member for both the Northwest Indiana Paddling Association and the Shirley Heinze Land Trust. Steve holds a degree in Biology/Environmental Science from Northland College, earned between 1994 and 1998.
