Junji Katamura, Ph.D, has extensive experience in battery technology and sustainable mobility, currently serving as Deputy General Manager at 日産自動車株式会社 since April 1999. In this role, Junji leads research planning for zero emissions and oversees advanced battery system research and development for next-generation electric vehicles (EVs). Prior positions include managing zero emission engineering and battery technology strategy, as well as conducting research on lightweight materials and advanced hydrogen storage. Additionally, Junji has contributed as Executive Secretary for the committee of battery technology in Japan from June 2018 to December 2022 and held a research fellowship focused on ceramic materials at the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science from April 1997 to March 1999. Junji earned a Ph.D. in Materials Science from The University of Tokyo.
