Herwig Bachmann is an expert in fermentation, currently working as an Expertise Group Leader and Principal Scientist at NIZO since April 2011. Prior to this, Herwig was a PhD student at NIZO from 2004 to 2009, focusing on the regulatory and adaptive responses of Lactococcus lactis. Herwig also has experience as an Assistant Professor at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, a Project Leader at TiFN, and a Junior Scientist at Galapagos Genomics. Herwig holds a PhD in Molecular Microbiology from Wageningen University & Research, and a Master's degree and DI in Food and Biotechnology from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna.
