Shane Higgins

Shane Higgins is an experienced Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, currently serving as a Master at the National Maternity Hospital since July 2009 and as a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at University College Dublin since July 2016. Prior roles include Clinical Director and Consultant at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital from November 2004 to June 2009, as well as Senior Lecturer at the University of Melbourne from December 2001 to November 2004. Shane Higgins has also held the position of Director of Delivery Suites and Consultant in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at The Royal Women's Hospital from January 1999 to November 2004. Educational qualifications include a Diploma in Leadership and Quality in Healthcare from the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland, a Master of Public Health in Women’s Health from the University of Melbourne, and an Mb BCh BAO from University College Cork. Early education was completed at Saint Michael’s CBS, Sexton Street, Limerick.
