Robert Backhouse is an experienced technology executive currently serving as CTO Americas at Nokia since March 2021. Prior to this role, Robert held several key positions at Huawei from June 2009 to March 2021, including SVP & CTO, where responsibilities encompassed the development of Huawei Canada’s strategic plan and leadership in solution sales and technical promotions. Robert also served as Vice President of Wireless Technical Solution Sales and as RF Project Director, demonstrating expertise in managing large teams and complex multi-operator projects. Earlier experience includes consulting roles at Qualcomm and positions at Alcatel-Lucent and Telstra, focusing on UMTS network design and optimization. Robert holds a Master’s degree in Information Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering, both from Queensland University of Technology.
