Dr. Moritz August

Moritz August has a diverse work experience in the field of machine learning and data science. Moritz co-founded Nomitri GmbH in 2019 and currently holds the position of Chief Data Officer. In this role, they lead the Machine Learning team and is responsible for the machine learning branch of their technology and product stack in AI/ML on mobile and embedded devices. Moritz is also involved in funding, strategy, product development, and recruiting.

Prior to their current position, Moritz worked as a Senior Data Scientist at MindPeak GmbH from 2018 to 2020. During their time there, they developed prototypes and the first product of the company in the field of Deep Learning based medical image analysis in digital pathology. Moritz managed the labeling team and supported the seed round with demos and presentations to investors and stakeholders.

Moritz also has academic experience. Moritz pursued a PHD Researcher position at the Technical University Munich from 2014 to 2018. Additionally, they worked as an Academic Visitor at the University of Cambridge in 2017. Earlier in their career, they completed their Master's Thesis at Bosch in 2014, and worked as a Graduate Student Researcher at Technische Universität München and Fraunhofer AISEC from 2013 to 2014. Moritz also gained research experience as an Undergraduate Student Researcher at FIM Research Center from 2010 to 2012.

Moritz August's education history begins in 2009 when they enrolled at the University of Augsburg. Moritz studied Business Informatics/Computer Science and completed their Bachelor of Science degree in 2012. Following their undergraduate studies, they attended the Technical University of Munich from 2012 to 2014, where they pursued a Master of Science degree in Computer Science.

Later, from 2014 to 2018, Moritz August continued their studies at the same university, the Technical University of Munich, where they successfully completed a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Machine Learning.
