Mathilde Ørstavik

Head of Geospatial AI at NORKART AS

Mathilde Ørstavik has a diverse work experience in the field of software development and geospatial technology. Mathilde began their career as a Summer Intern, Web Developer at NORKART AS in 2015, where they created a script for converting map data and developed a demo web application. In 2016, they worked as a Student Assistant in Geographic Information Handling at NTNU and also took on the role of Head of Programme Committee at FOSS4G-NOR, where they were responsible for spreading information about open source technology in geoinformatics. Mathilde further gained experience as a Summer Intern, Web Developer at NORKART AS in 2016, creating a web application with Mapbox GL JS. In the same year, they joined ISFiT (The International Student Festival in Trondheim) as a Web Developer, where they developed internal and external systems for the festival. Mathilde then joined NORKART AS again in 2017 as a Software Developer, and later took on the role of AI Software Developer. Currently, they hold the position of Head of Geospatial AI at NORKART AS, starting in 2023.

Mathilde Ørstavik completed their high school education at Oppegård Videregående Skole from 2008 to 2011, focusing on Realfag (science-based subjects). Mathilde then attended Sunnhordland Folkehøgskole in 2011 and 2012, where they studied music. Subsequently, they pursued their Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) from 2012 to 2017, specializing in Engineering and ICT, specifically Geomatics. In 2015, Mathilde Ørstavik participated in an exchange semester at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, with a focus on Informatics.
