John Williford

Director of Biomanufacturing and Contract Research at Nortis

John Williford has extensive experience in the biotechnology field. John began their career in 1990 as a Research Scientist 1 at Baxter Bartels Diagnostic. In 1993, they became a Research Technologist 11 at the University of Washington and worked on two grants. In 1998, they became a Research Associate ll / Lab Manager at Cerep and developed a series of mammalian and bacterial cell based assays in a high throughput format. In 2001, they became a Scientist ll at Cell Therapeutics, Inc./ Pangenex Inc., where they developed a selectivity assay to test protein/protein interaction and expressed and purified proteins. In 2005, they became a Senior Scientist at Micronics and worked on all aspects of the Nucleic Acid Platform (PanNAT). In 2016, they became an Associate Scientist at Intellectual Ventures and worked on multiple projects developing paper based diagnostics for the detection of antigens in complex matrices. Currently, they are the Director of Biomanufacturing and Contract Research at Nortis, where they manage collaborations and pilot studies using Nortis technology and expertise with Organ on a Chip, as well as developing and implementing strategies for a new product line of pre-filled collagen chips.

John Williford attended Spokane Falls Community College from 1984 to 1986, where they earned an Associate's degree in General Studies. John then attended Eastern Washington University from 1986 to 1990, where they earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Chemistry.
