Emile Trottier has extensive experience in the chemical industry, with a focus on research and development, marketing, business development, and portfolio management. Emile started their career at Dow in 1987, where they held various roles including Coatings Technical Service and Development Manager and European Coatings Industry Leader. During their time at Dow, they were responsible for developing new product development platforms and implementing portfolio management practices. In 2008, they joined Nouryon as an R&D Director, and later worked as an R&D Director in the newly formed Paints & Coatings unit after the company was acquired. Emile provided strategic direction for developing innovative solutions and worked closely with commercial managers and regulatory compliance managers. Throughout their career, Emile has demonstrated leadership in driving innovation and creating value in the chemical industry.

Emile Trottier has a diverse education history. In 1979-1983, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Strathclyde. Following this, from 1983-1987, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Polymer Chemistry also at the University of Strathclyde. Later on, they attended Heriot-Watt University from 1993-1995, where they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Strategic Marketing. In 2012, Emile attended INSEAD, completing an Executive Management Program in Developing Innovative Capability.
