Patrick Bastek is an experienced leader in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors, currently serving as Vice President of Cell and Gene Therapy Technical R&D at Novartis since November 2021. Prior to this role, Bastek held several key positions at Pfizer, including Executive Director and Sr. Director in Medicinal Sciences focusing on rare diseases and gene therapy. Bastek's experience at Seqirus included leading a Technical Development organization and overseeing process and assay development for clinical and commercial manufacturing. Their earlier tenure at Novartis involved leading cross-functional teams and driving innovation in vaccine manufacturing processes. Additional experience includes significant roles at Dendreon, Wyeth, Abbott Bioresearch Center, and BASF Bioresearch Center, coupled with a strong educational background in chemical engineering from North Carolina State University and the University of Virginia.
