Walter Ferlin

Head of Exploratory Science & Translational Medicine Department at NovImmune

Walter Ferlin has extensive work experience in the field of bioscience. Walter started their career as a PhD student at DNAX Research Institute from 1993 to 1997. Walter continued their research as a Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow at Anergen in 1998. In 1999, they worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at CNRS, focusing on tolerance mechanisms in Non Obese Diabetic (NOD) mice.

Ferlin joined NovImmune in 2003 and held several roles within the company. Walter started as a Scientist & Project Manager from 2003 to 2005, then became a Senior Scientist & Project Manager from 2005 to 2007. Walter was later promoted to the role of Senior Scientist & Section Head from 2007 to 2010. Finally, Ferlin served as the Head of Exploratory Science & Translational Medicine Department at NovImmune, where they were responsible for delivering PK-PD parameters to support the development of therapeutic antibodies from preclinical to early clinical development.

In 2019, Ferlin transitioned to Light Chain Bioscience, a brand of Novimmune SA. Walter took on the role of Chief Scientific Officer, guiding the research and development of novel multi-specific antibodies that rely on their light chain for their function.

Walter Ferlin completed their education with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Immunology & Biochemistry from Monash University between the years 1987 to 1991. Walter then pursued further studies and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Immunology from the University of California, Davis from 1993 to 1997.
