Michael Read is a Foreign Affairs and Defence Correspondent at The Australian Financial Review, where they also served as Economics Correspondent and Reporter from 2023 to 2025. Previously, they worked as an Economist at the Reserve Bank of Australia from 2016 to 2021 and briefly at UBS in 2021. Michael holds a Bachelor of Economics with First Class Honours from the University of Sydney and a Master’s degree in International and Development Economics from Yale University.
