The national service scheme of IIT PATNA is an initiative to bring about a change in the social and economic forms of the society. NSS believes that "service to mankind is service to GOD " and with this mindset the members of nss are everready to carve out humanity out of every social cause.                                                                                                                                                                                           the sheme is headed by DR. Rajgopal Rao , supported by the general secretary Jagdish Anjana and its mentors. the scheme functions in 8 various parts with its centre of activity being Amhara village . It comprises of: 1.women empowernmwnt; it aims to strengthen the women who are the roots of society and to uplift their social standards. 2. rural enterpreunership; it mainly focuses on creating employment ideas and self groups for the unemployed in order to uplift their economic standards . 3. plantation group; it works to improve the health of environment both inside and outside the campus spreding greenery and organising drives. 4.cleanliness ; it organizes various cleanliness drives paving path for swatcha bharat; 5. technical skills. members of this group help the people of the village to keep pace with the growing technologies and teaches them skills regarding computers. 6;chetna awareness; it spreds information regarding various government schemes and organisations. it also oranises various camps one of htem being the blood donation camp. 7;teaching group; it spreads education among the children , helps them in schooling ,organises various exams and competitions to motivate them.8; prayatna , this group of nss plays a major role. it is an initiative to bring a change in the life of children who are the future of the country. it teaches them and provides them basic knowledge of topics of their respective syllabus. These committees together function to make nss what it is.
