Omer Gersten

Grants and Contracts Manager at Nu-Trek

Omer Gersten has a long history of work experience in the field of health research. Omer began their career in 1998 as an Undergraduate Intern at the Institute of Medicine (IOM) of the National Academy of Sciences. In 2000, they became a Post-Baccalaureate Intern/Praktikant at the Institute for Applied Social Research. In 2003, they were a Visiting Ph.D. Student at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR). In 2006, they became a Staff Research Associate at the Center on the Economics and Demography of Aging (CEDA) and School of Public Health. In 2007, they were a Visiting Scholar at the Central American Population Center/Centro Centroamericano de Población (CCP) and a Postdoctoral Fellow at Academia Sinica, Taiwan. In 2009, they were a Staff Research Associate at UC Berkeley Demography and School of Public Health and a Research Associate at the National Health Research Institutes (NHRI). In 2011, they became the Grants and Contracts Manager at Nu-Trek. Finally, in 2013, they became a Health Researcher at Health Research Consulting.

Omer Gersten obtained a B.A. in Sociology and pre-medicine courses from the University of California, Berkeley in 1998. Omer then went on to earn an M.P.H. (Master of Public Health) in Epidemiology from the same university in 2002. Finally, Omer Gersten completed their Ph.D. in Demography from the University of California, Berkeley in 2005. In addition, Omer Gersten has obtained various certifications from Coursera, including "Survival Analysis in R for Public Health" in February 2020, "Sampling People, Networks, and Records" in August 2019, "Combining and Analyzing Complex Data" in July 2019, "Questionnaire Design for Social Surveys" in November 2018, "Social Norms, Social Change 1" in June 2018, and "Measuring Causal Effects in the Social Sciences" in September 2017.
