John Cameron

Quantitative Geneticist

John Cameron is a quantitative geneticist currently working at NuCicer since August 2024, with a prior role as a Bayer Research Scholar in Quantitative Genetics at Bayer from July 2022 to August 2024, focusing on optimization models for genomic prediction in maize breeding. Cameron’s extensive experience includes serving as a statistical geneticist and analytics lead at Forage Genetics International from June 2017 to July 2022, where contributions included SNP discovery and genomic prediction studies. Previous roles also include serving as a graduate research assistant at Iowa State University, a nutrient analyst at Covance, and a research assistant at the USDA ARS. Additionally, Cameron has served as a Peace Corps Volunteer, implementing agricultural improvement and public health projects. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Plant Breeding with a minor in Statistics from Iowa State University and a Bachelor of Science in Botany/Plant Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
